Sex Toy Tips
Sex toy tips are a dime a dozen, but there are only a few you really need to remember. Correct vibrator and dildo maintenance is not good for your health, but can help your toys last for the long run.
1: Batteries
Rechargeable vibrators are quickly becoming the norm in the industry. This is both because of the advancements in the technology, and the great benefits to having this ability. If you have the option of getting your favourite toy in a rechargeable model, go for it!
If your favourite toy only has an option with batteries, don’t stress, you can still make it last a long time.
When batteries are left connected to a device, their power is slowly drained through the contact points, even when the circuit is broken. To help your batteries last longer it is best to take them out of the toy.
Regardless of your battery supply, you should still take them out of your toy with every use. Batteries will quickly corrode when they leak their energy. When the batteries corrode inside of your toy you can kiss your toy good bye.
2: Cleaning
Cleaning your toy is incredibly important. If you have a toy that you’re not sure about, contact the retailer you bought it off, or the manufacturer.
For most toys, some warm soapy water is all you need. You should clean your toys after every use. If your toy is in a sock draw and gets touched regularly, it’s a good idea to clean it before use as well.
After you have cleaned your toy, make sure you have dried to correctly. if you put a wet toy in storage it can take a long time to dry, encouraging mould and other unwanted bacteria.
It isn’t compulsory, but it is definitely recommended to use an anti-bacterial sex toy cleaner. You can buy these from most adult shops.
3: Lube
Using the wrong type of lube can literally destroy your toys. The rule of thumb is “if your toy is silicone, don’t use silicone lube”. Different types of silicone meld together and break down. This is why you shouldn’t use silicone lube with silicone toys. Stick to water-base.
If your toy is made of glass, metal, or different material, fell free to use silicone. Silicone lube is more than safe to use on your skin and other sex toys. Just don’t use it with silicone toys.
4: Maintenance
A lot of people, especially in tropical climates, have problems with their sex toys not working. Quite often in the humid places the motors of the toys cease up.
Despite what you may think, this isn’t the end of your sex toys life…in most cases.
if the motor of your toy is simply ceased up, turn your toy on and give it a gentle smack. if that didn’t work, try to give it another gentle smack from a different direction. if you’re lucky, you will gently un-cease the motor and get it all back up and running.
Don’t smack the toy hard, or you may break some of the internal components.
Get a sex toy bag/carry case/box. This will stop your toy from handled directly, and prevent any unintentional damage.
if you follow these few rules, you should have a sex toy companion for a long time, and one that wont look tired and old.
