POS System for Adult Shops

So you want to open an Adult shop, you will of course need a POS system or Point of Sale system previously known as a till register the new fangled name does much the same but with better store management.

The old till register simply sat there and counted your money and run up a tax report which was all good in the 1980’s but business is so fast and furious now that simply will not work in 2016. You really need to get the latest technology to run your business. But before we simply plug a system and our readers rush out and buy our recommendation not all systems are the same.

To do business in the Adults only shopping space in 2016 you need a Adult shop pos system that does the usual offering plus more.

• customer management
• profit and loss information
• label printing
• Easy stock take

Many of these were not possible using the old type cash register  your new POS System needs to have one massive addition that separates the men from the boys in this space and that is a website. Basically you need your POS System to talk to your online shop or vice versa. Because if you don’t have a website your business will die a sorry death.

There are two ways to go about this with us leaning towards only one real acceptable choice. But once we mention the choices, you will we believe agree with us.

POS system choices

Choice one:  an Adult shop POS System that uploads and downloads to and from your website at various times to track sales and keep stock updated. Here you pay fees for hosting and pos system annual maintenance you would use something like retail manager.

Choice two: A POS System that is your website, yep you can now get a website that works as a pos system yep has a till system integrated so you have one sales platform over multiple channels one place that records everything.

The obvious choice is number two one system multiple sales channels seamless integration there are two companies that do it at the moment both that focus on the US market and as soon as we get an Australian player we will add that to our list.

The two choices that we have found are bigcommerce.com and shopify.com both these charge in US dollars even though big commerce is actually an Australian company. The POS system is an addition on both but even if you chose option one and have a self standing POS you still have annual maintenance fees. These are the same or more than a completely integrates website and pos module.

Obviously before you run off and join either off these two suppliers we must state that we are not receiving any sort of compensation from  bigcommerce or shopify we just know from experience that they are the best shopping carts available at the moment (in our opinion).  We will of course do a online shopping cart feature at a later stage.

But if you use your imagination a shopping cart  has exactly the same features as a till and Point of sale system but lacks a till like interface. When we initially started researching this years ago some providers were wanting to charge 900 bucks a month. Well now you can get this the same functionality for 200 bucks / big commerce or 80 bucks shopify,  a month give or take.

So for about 2400 /900 dollars a year you get a POS System and website hosted and secured. To put this into perspective MYOB retail manager was charging 1500 bucks just for their license.
